Within the framework of “the Establishment of Environmental Label Criteria in Tourist Accommodation Service Group for the Sustainable Implementation of and the Elevation of Awareness to Turkish Environment Label System” project, technical evaluation studies between 21th and 23th November 2019 in 4 different hotels and stakeholder meeting on 24 November 2019 in Antalya province Manavgat district were held.
In the hotels where technical evaluation works took place, the suitability of the eco-label draft criteria on Tourist Accommodation Facilities, which was prepared according to the Regulation (EC) No 66/2010, were assessed. A field survey was conducted and views on the issue were exchanged. During the field survey, issues in tourist accommodation facilities such as water saving, energy efficiency, waste management, employee training and customer notification were deeply addressed.
A stakeholder meeting was launched on 24 October 2019 with the participation of relevant governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as organizations operating in tourism sector. In the said stakeholder meeting, the following was achieved: the information regarding the exemplary criteria on the implementation of eco-labelling around the world was provided to the participants; the results of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) conducted within the project were shared, the works towards the draft criteria on Tourist Accommodation Facilities were conducted through round table meetings.
